gay friendly wedding photographer gay pre wedding shoot in surry hills

My fingers and toes had been kept firmly crossed in recent weeks. Since the “Yes” vote came through on November 15, I’d been eagerly anticipating the legalisation of same-sex marriage in Australia, and it looks like wishing, hoping and finger-crossing paid off. To say that the passing of legislation in favour of gay marriage is a moment worth celebrating, is an understatement.

Now, many couples in my community – and across Australia – decided not to hold their breath on Australia changing its stance on its antiquated marriage laws, and already celebrated their relationship with a wedding overseas. Sadly, while not legally recognised here, these couples have had a test run of an incredible occasion that will deem them a legally married couple in the eyes of Australia law come January 2018.

Thankfully, many venues throughout Sydney are already living in the 21st century and have had their doors open to same-sex couples for a very long time. I expect that they’ll see an influx of newly engaged same-sex couples come 2018. For those getting ready to tie the knot, I’ve put together a list of my favourite  gay friendly wedding venues in Sydney. I hope this helps everyone = )

To add some fun to my blog I’ve added a couple of images from a marriage equality shoot I did recently in Surry Hills. With something special to offer…..

SPECIAL OFFER!! To celebrate this amazing event in history I’m offering a FREE PRE WEDDING SHOOT (valued at $600) to the first 5 same sex couples who book me for their wedding day! Contact me for prices.

What could be more iconic than exchanging your wedding vows on the shores of Bondi Beach? The recent reinvention of the historic Bondi Beach surf club came with some A-lister company. Under the same expert management as Gunners Barracks, Sergeants’ Mess & Dunbar House, this gay friendly wedding venue in Sydney, was also styled by everyone’s favourite interiors guru, Sibella Court. Festoon lighting, exposed timber dining tables and the talents of executive chef, Rob Crichton – I wouldn’t blame you or up to 150 of your guests for never wanting to leave.

Now here’s a wedding destination that’s been some 200 years in the making – The Botanic Gardens Restaurant is nestled deep within Australia’s oldest gardens, its sleek modern interior contrasted by its ancient surrounds.

Before your guests enjoy pre-reception champagne and cocktails in the shade of the majestic fig trees, they can join you and your partner on Bennelong Lawn for your ceremony, with unrivalled views of our Sydney Opera House and the great coat hanger, the Sydney Harbour Bridge. But you won’t need to fuss over the details on your own. Wedding event coordinators will assist with every detail of your wedding styling and menu creation.
