Beth & Jono, Redleaf – The Hunter Valley

TICKING ALL THE BOXES OF A HUNTER VALLEY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER’S WISHLIST

Take one of the nicest couples you’ll ever meet, add a stunning wedding dress by acclaimed bridal gown designer Karen Willis Holmes, sprinkle with a handful of dapper groomsmen (not forgetting some of the most beautifully manicured facial hair you’ll see on a bridegroom this side of Sydney).

Stir in an autumnal colour palette that would send the most unflappable art lovers weak at the knees and what do you get?

The Hunter Valley wedding of your dreams!

And a photographer’s ideal location to boot. Lucky me! With my camera bags packed I happily waved good-bye to my photography studio and hit the road.

Beyond  Redleaf Wollombi’s slow, meandering tree-lined driveway is a BREATHTAKING 100-acre retreat. An obvious wedding venue choice for many Sydney couples.

Jono and Beth first clapped eyes on the Hunter Valley wedding venue on a cold, wet Winter’s day, yet it’s charm was unmistakable.

“We knew if we liked it in the rain, it would be spectacular in the warm Autumn weather for our wedding day.”

Beth describes her and Jono’s wedding style as “LAIDBACK, INTIMATE, RUSTIC. Above all, RELAXED.”

“The wedding venue brought it all together for us. I wasn’t interested in huge lavish affair, and neither of us are keen to be the centre of attention, so we kept things relaxed and intimate, with just our closest friends… Redleaf Wollombi provided a such STUNNING BACKDROP with its buildings, terracotta colours, wooden shutters on the windows. It ticked all the boxes for our wedding”

With all the hard work that gets poured into planning and unveiling a wedding, Beth explained that she and her husband-to-be wanted a MAGICAL WEEKEND AWAY, not a fleeting 5-hour escape.

“Loads of QUALITY TIME WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY was so important to us. We settled in from Thursday to Monday, and the relaxed pace meant we were able to catch up with our wedding guests, many of whom had travelled from the other side of the world.”

What I discovered as Jono and Beth’s Hunter Valley wedding photographer, is that you won’t be ushered into a private function room to celebrate your wedding. No, siree! The entire estate is yours; Tuscan inspired accommodation, lovingly nurtured gardens and extensive grounds, and of course, your own pool.

*Cue brides the world over weeping tears of joy*.

While Beth admits she kept her emotions in check during the wedding ceremony and speeches, it was the night before her wedding that saw her brought to tears. “Friends took the day off work the day before our wedding to help set up the venue, create our signage, and decorate the marquee.

That night, as I sat overlooking it all, watching the sun setting over the roof of the house I got quite teary….

MY WEDDING WAS TRANSFORMING INTO EVERYTHING I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE.”

In the same way I like to approach photographing my wedding clients, so too was Jono and Beth’s wedding experience; UNSCRIPTED, NATURAL and a WHOLE LOT OF FUN. But as you browse the couple’s Hunter Valley wedding photography, look closely at the rustic charm, the bridesmaid’s native floral bouquets, delightful wedding dinner menu and genius touches like the hessian-swathed hay bales for guest seating during the wedding ceremony. You’ll notice a single common thread throughout Beth and Jono’s wedding day. And it’s possibly the greatest ingredient of all: LAUGHTER.
